Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient Treatment

Adult outpatient treatment at Sierra Vista Hospital includes partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) designed to helps adults who struggle with a behavioral health disorder, chemical dependency or co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis) while allowing them to live at home.

Outpatient treatment is for people who do not require 24-hour care. Patients can transition to an outpatient program after leaving an inpatient program. A free and confidential assessment determines the level of care to which a person is initially admitted.

Components of Outpatient Treatment

  • Individual treatment planning
  • Psychiatric assessments and medication management
  • Individual therapy as needed
  • Process group therapy and peer support
  • Dual-diagnosis group therapy
  • Adult education and life skill development
  • Family meetings
  • Discharge planning and community referrals

Behavioral Health IOP

The adult behavioral health IOP is designed to help adults who need their behavioral health disorder stabilized but do not require the structure of a PHP or the 24-hour intensive care of an inpatient program.

Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Participants typically attend three groups per day, three days a week. Scheduling can be arranged to better accommodate the participant’s therapeutic needs.

Chemical Dependency IOP

The chemical dependency IOP treats adults who have a chemical dependency issue but are stable enough to attend work or school. Our goal is to help patients attain an alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle and resume their highest level of functioning.

A psychiatrist directs the program and certified alcohol- and drug-treatment counselors conduct group therapy. Each patient’s specific needs determine their attendance requirements. Patients must be free of detox symptoms and signs of addiction while enrolled in the program.

Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The average length of stay is 20 sessions. After completing the program, patients can attend an aftercare program for at least one year. Light snacks are provided.

Behavioral Health PHP

The adult behavioral health PHP offers adults treatment for a behavioral health disorder using all the same features as our inpatient behavioral health program. Unlike inpatient care, this program does not require 24-hour care or overnight stay at the hospital. Treatment is overseen by a psychiatrist.

The program is held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

Dual Diagnosis PHP

The dual diagnosis PHP provides a structured outpatient level of care for the treatment of adults with co-occurring chemical dependency and behavioral health disorders. Patients can receive help and work through both issues while living at home.

The program is held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
