Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program at Sierra Vista Hospital: Why Choose Us?
Our services are for adolescents who are having difficulty managing stress and changes that occur in young adulthood. They may need assistance navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or gender identity issues. Trusted providers guide your child’s recovery with thoughtful support at every turn.
Highlights of our program include:
- Comfortable environment: Adolescent PHP mental health services are available in our Folsom Sierra Wellness Clinic. Treatment areas are spacious and filled with natural light, creating welcoming spaces for learning and healing. Our campus also has outdoor spaces perfect for taking in fresh air during breaks.
- Age-appropriate care: Participation in adolescent programming is limited to people between 12½ and 17 years old. Focus areas include mindfulness, distress tolerance and emotional regulation. Through group therapy and one-on-one check-ins, we equip your child with the skills to navigate future challenges in healthy, productive ways.
- Timely services: If your child may benefit from PHP mental health services, we respond quickly. The first step is an in-depth assessment that’s available on short notice and at no cost to you. Eligible adolescents can be admitted to our program and begin treatment the same day. Contact us to get started.
- Seamless care: Sierra Vista offers more of the services your child may need. Many young adults come to PHP after completing inpatient treatment. Your child can also continue their recovery with us after PHP through our adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP).
Our Approach to Adolescent Partial Hospitalization
Adolescence can be more challenging for some than others. But your child’s behaviors today do not have to define their future. We understand what your child is going through and use research-based methods to create lasting change. Whether it’s depression, substance abuse, anxiety or defiant behavior, we can help your child heal.
We guide your child through activities that explore the triggers behind unhealthy behaviors. Immersive group therapy sessions teach them how to process these situations instead of reacting to them. We help your child build skills for responding in mature ways and communicating their needs to preserve important relationships.
Adolescent PHP Mental Health Services: What to Expect
If our adolescent partial hospitalization program is right for your child, here’s what to expect:
- Intake assessment: We ask your child about their mental health challenges to determine their eligibility. Assessments are available 24/7 at Sierra Vista Hospital.
- Multi-specialty evaluation: Your child undergoes assessments by a psychiatrist, nursing staff and therapists. We explain the daily schedule and help your child complete paperwork.
- Group therapy: Trusted mental health providers guide your child through topics such as de-escalating intense feelings and communicating effectively with others. Efforts also include activities that help your child apply new information to real-life scenarios.
- Medication management: Some adolescents benefit from drugs such as antidepressants and medications that curb cravings for controlled substances. We prescribe the appropriate option and then carefully monitor your child’s response.
- Discharge planning: We coordinate access to the services your child needs after PHP. Efforts may include finding a psychiatrist or therapist to continue their treatment. Some people receive additional services through our adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP).
